About the Position


The College is seeking to appoint a qualified temporary, full-time School Counsellor / Psychologist to join the College’s pastoral department. The position is located at our Stanmore Secondary campus and will work with Years 7-12.


This position is a temporary, full time position commencing Term 2, 2020 and ending on 30 April 2021 (with the potential of ongoing employment). The successful candidate will be working 48 weeks per year.


This is a vital role at the College, working closely with boys, parents, teaching staff, pastoral and academic leaders and other professional staff. A strong understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent boys and the associated issues which influence their lives is essential.

About You


It is expected that the successful applicant will have:

  • Counselling and psychology qualifications and professional experience that enables registration with AHPRA and full registration with APS
  • Experience providing support to a College and its pastoral care team in building resilience and proactive and contemporary approaches to pastoral care
  • An ability to provide assessment, counselling and consultancy as appropriate to the College Executive and Critical Incident Team
  • Child Protection investigation skills and willingness to obtain accreditation if required
  • Highly developed organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Being a team player
  • A willingness to participate in co-curricular activities
  • A good understanding of Positive Psychology
  • The ability to administer tests that provide good data for staff such as WISC IV.
