About the Position:


The College is seeking to appoint a Senior Developer (full-time permanent position) who will be responsible for the design, development, administration and ongoing growth of a range of digital products and systems.


The new Senior Developer will join the team at a particularly exciting period of development and change – with significant digital and infrastructure initiatives being planned for 2020.

The successful candidate will be involved in scaling the development capacity and responsible for shaping the future of Newington's digital tools through the delivery of innovative products and services at the core of the College's operations.


You will be joining a school that is known for its technical innovation and resources - working alongside highly skilled educators and technical staff.

About you:

  • Software development knowledge in Ruby and/or JavaScript – or similar languages;
  • Experience designing and using web services/APIs.
  • Relevant IT tertiary qualifications, or a commensurate level of practical skills and experience;
  • Solid skills in Relational Databases (ideally PostgreSQL) and SQL
  • A strong grasp of standards-based web technologies (HTML5, CSS3)
  • Experience in working in a test-driven development and/or a passion to build apps that are thoroughly tested.
  • Experience solving real world problems with programming – working independently and in small teams;
